From December 18 to 19, 2025, Zhu Liangliang, General Manager of the International Business Division of Henan Longxiang Electric Co., Ltd., visited Shabwah Governorate in Yemen to carry out a series of business negotiations and on-site inspection activities. During his visit, Mr. Zhu held in-depth discussions with local key leaders including Awad Mohammed bin Shabwah, Governor of Shabwah Governorate; Awad Al-Ahmadi, General Manager of the Provincial Electricity Company; and Tawfiq Baslad, President of Shabwah University. He also conducted on-site investigations of the 53-megawatt photovoltaic power plant in Shabwah and Shabwah University. Through these practical actions, Mr. Zhu sought to deepen China-Yemen cooperation in the energy sector and jointly explore new opportunities for development.
Shabwah Governorate is located in southeastern Yemen and is rich in oil and mineral resources. At the same time, it boasts vast potential for development in the renewable energy sector, making it one of the core regions driving the development of Yemen’s energy industry.
During the visit, Mr. Zhu first held formal talks with Governor Awad Mohammed bin Shabwah of Shabwah Province. The Governor of Shabwah Province warmly welcomed Mr. Zhu’s visit and highlighted Shabwah Province’s development plans in the energy sector. He emphasized that the local government regards energy cooperation as a strategic priority and expressed its willingness to provide comprehensive support and convenience to investing enterprises. Mr. Zhu detailed Henan Longxiang Electric’s technological strengths and industrial capabilities in the power sector, and expressed his intention to deeply engage in local energy project construction and help convert Shabwah’s resource advantages into developmental ones. Both sides reached a preliminary consensus on several cooperative matters.
After the talks, the governor of Shabwa made a special arrangement to host a banquet. The director of the provincial government office, Awad Al-Ahmadi, general manager of the provincial power company, and Tawfiq Baslad, president of Shabwa University, along with other leaders, attended the banquet as guests of honor. During their warm and friendly exchange, both sides further closed the distance and strengthened mutual trust.
Accompanied by Awad Al-Ahmedi, General Manager of the Provincial Power Company, the delegation conducted a site visit to the 53-megawatt photovoltaic power plant in Shabwa. As a flagship project for local clean energy development, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of the plant’s operational status and power generation capacity. Leveraging their own technological strengths, they discussed optimization strategies with the plant’s management team, laying a solid foundation for future technical cooperation.
At Shabwa University, General Zhu engaged in an in-depth exchange with President Dr. Tawfiq Basradd on key topics such as academic cooperation and talent development. President Basradd provided a detailed overview of the university’s research breakthroughs and achievements in talent cultivation, which have been made possible by the region’s abundant oil and mineral resources. He also highlighted the College of Electrical Engineering currently under establishment. In response, General Zhu expressed Longxiang Electric’s willingness to fully leverage its technological and resource advantages to provide comprehensive support for the college’s development—including technical assistance, curriculum development, and the introduction of internationally advanced electrical talent-training systems. This collaboration will help nurture specialized professionals who meet the needs of the local energy industry, while also promoting the localization and commercialization of technological innovations.
This visit represents a significant step taken by Henan Longxiang Electric in deepening its engagement in Yemen. It not only underscores the company’s recognition of Yemen’s resource potential and development prospects but also lays a solid foundation for further, more intensive cooperation between the two sides. Moving forward, Longxiang Electric will take this visit as an opportunity to fully leverage its technological and industrial strengths, working hand-in-hand with Shabwah Governorate to pursue more practical collaborations in areas such as energy resource development, infrastructure construction, and talent cultivation. Together, we will contribute to the local economic and social development and write a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes between China and Yemen!
